Sunday night concert canceled, fireworks still on

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The concert planned for Sunday night's fireworks show at Mackenzie Park has been canceled, but the fireworks are still set to go off at 10 p.m. Rain Sunday afternoon damaged some of the music equipment at the park, forcing organizers to cancel that portion of the evening.

The park itself is flooded and closed to visitors, but people can still park nearby at the South Plains Fairgrounds to watch the fireworks. You can hear the prepared music for the choreographed show by tuning in to 93.7 FM - The Eagle.

Sunday night's event was to make up for the 4th on Broadway Fireworks Spectacular on July 4, which was canceled entirely because of rain. Broadway Festivals is reporting on its Facebook page that there are considerations to reschedule the concert, but no plans as of now.
