LUBBOCK, Texas -

(Press release)

Lubbock Police Officers were called to the intersection of 50th street and Interstate-27 just after 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, July 11th  following reports of an accident with injuries.

Upon arrival, officers located 47-year-old Jason Simms trapped in a pick-up truck. Members of Lubbock Fire Rescue worked to extract Simms from the vehicle. Once free, Simms was transported to UMC with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

At this time it appears the pick-up Simms was driving was traveling northbound on the access road, when the vehicle struck another pick-up which was stopped at the stop light. That truck then collided into an SUV and a passenger car, which were also stopped at the light. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation is on-going and charges are possible.
